vmware-tools connection fails - Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password

Problem 

When using vmware-tools connection type to connect to a guest host (in any SovLabs integration that uses this connection method) the error message in the vRO workflow looks like this:

Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password

Cause

There could be a few causes, not limited to the following:

• One possible cause is that the credential in the SovLabs vCenter endpoint is incorrect, has been locked out, or has changed.
• Another cause might be that the login is failing after replacement of vCenter Server certificates in vCenter Server 6.x
