How To - Remove SovLabs plugin and all content from environment

Overview

This How-to will explain how to remove the SovLabs plugin and any other content (Catalog Items, Services, etc) from the environment

Considerations

Insert anything that should be considered when using this article. This means versions, expected setup configurations, etc

Take Snapshots/Backups before starting

Procedure

Step 1 - Remove License

Please select whichever option works for you. Option 1 is removal via vRA, Option 2 is removal via vRO

Option 1 (Remove License - vRA)

  1. Log into vRA and click on the Deployments tab
  2. Click CLEAR ALL on the left side and then select SovLabs License under components on the left side of the screen
    1. Find the License you want to delete and click ActionsDelete License

  3. Click Submit on the Delete License window


  4. Once that is complete, continue to the next section (Remove SovLabs Catalog Items)


Option 2 (Remove License - vRO)

  1. Log into vRO and click on the Workflows tab
  2. Expand SovLabs → License → vRA ASD
    1. Right-click on Delete License and select Start Workflow...


  3. Click on Not Set in the Item field in the Delete License window


  4. In the new window that appeared, expand Sovlabs VRA Extensibility Modules → License
    1. Select the License you want to remove and click select


  5. You should now be back at the Delete License window. Make sure that the correct License is selected and click submit


  6. Select the running/finished token and verify that the license was removed



Step 2 - Remove/Deactivate SovLabs Catalog Items

Please select whichever option works for you. Option 1 is removal via vRA, Option 2 is removal via vRO

Option 1 (Deactivate SovLabs Catalog Items - vRA)

  1. Log into vRA and click on the Administration tab
  2. On the left side of the screen, expand Catalog Management and click on Catalog Items
  3. Select a SovLabs Catalog Item and click on Deactivate. Confirm Deactivate if prompted


  4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each SovLabs Catalog Items

  5. The SovLabs Catalog Items will be Removed completely in another step

Option 2 (Remove SovLabs Catalog Items - vRO)

  1. Log into vRO and click on the Workflows tab
  2. Expand SovLabs → Configuration → *****
    1. Right-click on the SovLabs Configuration or on a previously run token and click Start workflow... or Run again...


  3. Once the SovLabs Configuration window appears, select Yes if you accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next


  4. Make sure the vRA Tenant Name and Business Group Name are set correctly and select No for Publish License Content. Click Next


  5. Make sure Yes is selected for both upgrade options and click next


  6. Make sure Yes is selected on the install/update section and click Submit


  7. Once the workflow has completed, log into vRA to make sure all of the SovLabs Catalog Items (except for Add License) are gone


Step 3 - Remove SovLabs Services

  1. Log into vRA and click on the Administration tab
  2. Select Catalog Management and then Services
    1. Click the SovLabs vRA Extensibility Modules service and click Delete


    2. Click OK on the Confirm Delete window that appears


  3. Go back into the Catalog tab and all SovLabs catalog items should now be removed


Step 4 - Delete SovLabs Resource Actions 

  1. Log into vRA and click on the Design tab
  2. On the left side of the screen, expand XaaS and click on Resource Actions
  3. Select a bold SovLabs Resource Action from the list and click Delete. Confirm Deletion if prompted
    Note: ONLY the bold SovLabs Resource Actions can be deleted from here



  4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each SovLabs Resource Action
  5. All of the SovLabs Resource Actions will be removed once you delete the SovLabs XaaS Blueprints and Custom Resources


Step 5 - Delete SovLabs XaaS Blueprints

  1. Log into vRA and click on the Design tab
  2. On the left side of the screen, expand XaaS and click on Resource Actions
  3. Select a SovLabs XaaS Blueprint from the list and click Delete. Confirm Deletion if prompted



  4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each SovLabs Resource Action


Step 6 - Delete SovLabs Custom Resources (cant't remove if steps 1-5 are not completed prior) 

  1. Log into vRA and click on the Design tab
  2. On the left side of the screen, expand XaaS and click on Custom Resources
  3. Select a SovLabs Custom Resource from the list and click Delete. Confirm Deletion if prompted



  4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each SovLabs Resource Action


Step 7 - Remove SovLabs Plugin

  1. Log into Control Center and click on Manage Plug-ins 


  2. On the Manage Plug-Ins screen, find the SovLabs plugin and click Delete (Trash can on the right)

Step 8 - Delete the SovLabs vRA package

  1. Log into vRO and click on the Packages tab
  2. Right click on the com.sovlabs.vra package and click Delete element with content...


  3. Click on the Workflows tab and verify the SovLabs workflows are gone (The folders will still be there and will be removed in a later step)


Step 9 - Delete SovLabs Workflow Folders

  1. Click on the workflows tab in vRO and find the first SovLabs folder you want to delete
    1. If there are folders under the root one, you will need to delete those first before you can delete the top folder
  2. Repeat until all of the SovLabs Workflow folders are deleted
  3. Once they are all deleted, you can delete the root SovLabs folder


Step 10 - Delete SovLabs Action Folders

  1. Click on the Actions tab in vRO and find the first SovLabs folder you want to delete
  2. Right click on the first one and select delete
  3. Repeat until all of the SovLabs Action folders are deleted


Step 11 - Delete SovLabs Resource Folders

  1. Click on the Resources tab in vRO
  2. Expand Library → SovLabs and find the first SovLabs folder you want to delete
  3. Right click on the first one and select delete
  4. Repeat until all of the SovLabs Resource folders are deleted
  5. Once they are all deleted, you can delete the root SovLabs folder


Step 12 - Delete SovLabs Configuration Folders

  1. Click on the Configurations tab in vRO
  2. Expand SovLabs and find the first SovLabs folder you want to delete
  3. Right click on the first one and select delete
  4. Repeat until all of the SovLabs Resource folders are deleted
  5. Once they are all deleted, you can delete the root SovLabs folder


Step 13 - Delete SovLabs Action Folders

  1. Click on the Actions tab in vRO
  2. Right click on the first com.sovlabs.* folder and select delete
  3. Repeat until all of the SovLabs Actions folders are deleted
  4. All of the SovLabs items should now be removed
